“These essential works of charity and justice with respect to the poor are evident at The Old Meeting House, and are crucial to why I am an OMH member. The OMH is not a large faith community, but in my lifetime of belonging to various Christian congregations OMH is the one to me that has strived most faithfully and compassionately in performing the essential works of charity and justice to the poor. The heart of Christianity is at work.”

justice in Action ministry
Justice in Action Ministry is a key part of The OMH and foundational to our understanding of what it means to be a church. At the very least we are committed to dedicating 10% of our operating budget to our various Justice in Action ministries. In reality, our contributions far exceed this percentage and we remain enormously grateful for the generosity of our community.
The Justice in Action Ministry of the Old Meeting House has the privilege and charge of carrying our church’s work into our local community and the wider world. We support organizations that address urgent needs such as food, healthcare and homelessness. To this end, we give to over 25 local relief organizations and we also support the United Church of Christ’s mission endeavors, specifically “Our Church’s Wider Mission” and “One Great Hour of Sharing.” For more information on these and other ministries of the UCC, please visit: http://www.ucc.org/
We also seek to help raise the profile of the organizations to which we give as a means of encouraging others to support these organizations and inspire social consciousness throughout our extended community. This is done primarily through fundraising concerts, community gatherings and educational forums.

Anti-Racism TaskforceThe Old Meeting House Anti-racism Taskforce is a subcommittee of Justice in Action Ministry, and through reading circles and film discussions encourages congregation members to learn about and reflect on systemic racism with the goal of identifying antiracist actions that can bring about constructive change.
