October Special Exhibit in the Parish House Gallery:
In celebration of our bicentennial this year. The commemoration includes an art exhibit in the Parish House Gallery. You can view the exhibit 1:00-4:00pm every Sunday in October! The show presents twelve reproductions of the spectacular art of James Franklin Gilman,1870-1890. They portray the farm life- style and bucolic nature of the rural countryside of that era. To appreciate the amazing fact that many of these grand old farms and barns are still standing we have produced a driving tour of the historic places of note in the area. Join us for an opening reception, October 1 - 1:00-4:00pm. to view and enjoy this epic art. There will be a round table discussion about Gilman’s art during the reception from 2:00pm-3:00pm which includes farm owners and descendants of the farms painted by the itinerant artist. Driving Tour Maps: In conjunction with the Gilman exhibit of paintings of the farms of our founders, we have put together a map of East Montpelier with those farms indicated. You will be able to drive around the town and see what’s left - besides our Meeting House. Suggested donation for map $5. Pick up a map at the Parish House, 1:00-4:00pm, open every Sunday in October. |
